April, in bullets.

- In honor of National Poetry Month, I attended a poetry reading, where I managed, somehow, to not knock over the podium with my violently shaking hands. It had been awhile since I’d read anywhere, but I’ve been telling myself to get back into it. It was nice. Also, there were candles.
- Related: In honor of National Poetry Month (or re-organization, or something stupid like that) the local Borders seems to have done away with their poetry section the same week I decided I needed to read more Gary Snyder. Either that or I just cannot see it, which is highly likely, because I am known for searching frantically for things that are right in front of my face.
- Took the trip north to Pittsburgh to see Rent. It had been awhile since I saw a play or musical not in Parkersburg, and um, I wish I could see plays and musicals not in Parkersburg more often. And I love Rent. The end.
- A garden got planted. I’m really, really looking forward to seeing what happens with that.
- I stopped eating red meat. This is a journey I have embarked on before, for no particular reason other than eating cheeseburgers and steak and other cow-products feels absolutely disgusting and like a huge waste of energy. For some reason Because I suck, though, I have always slipped up. This time I plan to not to do that.

It’s kind of just a test step for me, really. I promised myself that I could keep up with that for a month, I’d take it farther. I’m not sure what I mean by that, really. In the past month, I’ve also started doing things that I actually feel are, uh, enriching my life. Yeah, I know, but it’s true. The next logical thing to do is keep altering my diet until it’s something that I feel mirrors the way my brain feels, right?

So that’s that. Peace out, April.

Poetry’s still there I think. They moved it to the end of the literature shelf where all of the essay and theory books were.

All in the name of making room for a couple of chairs, apparently.

I’m glad you are doing things that make you happy. I didn’t eat meat for almost 3 years for almost the exact same reason.

    I also LOVE Rent.

April was fantastic! I think it’s my favorite month so far this year. Now I’m sad because it’s gooooooone (which also means I have to turn the page on my calendar to an even weirder picture than the last).
