I am doing horrible at watching movies this year. By this time both last year and the year before, I had seen upwards of 30 “new to me” movies, which kind of seems like a lot, now that I’m actually considering it. Maybe the 14 I’ve seen in the first quarter of this year is actually a little more reasonable.
But still, this year’s been a little disappointing. Movies are still one of my favorite hobbies, but I’ve been to the theater three times, and two of them were, sadly, what I consider “wastes of time.”
Adventureland was a pleasant surprise, especially for something with marketing that relied on the heavy emphasis of the fact that it was directed by the director (um, good sentence here, Alicia) of Superbad, which I liked once and will probably never watch again. Where Superbad seems in retrospect absurd, Adventureland rings truer.
Shame it didn’t get a wider release.

I find that I don’t watch many movies mainly because they cost so damn much to go and see. I hate going to the theater, spending $10 and my time, and have it be all for nothing. I am glad Adventureland was a nice surprise for you. I have heard mixed reviews about it so I’m probably going to wait for it on video.

I don’t put movies on when we’re both home unless we rent a movie to watch together. We do go to the theater occasionally. We’ve been a few times this year, which is good because last year it seemed like there were never any good movies out that we both wanted to see lol. I even have a bunch of movies that I’ve bought that I haven’t even seen yet lol. It’s just one of those things. I think that it’s one of those things that slows down a bit as you end up with different interests. I spend a lot more time on the internet and playing video games now then I use to. And for me it’s hockey season so there’s always something on tv lol. The summer will probably bring more movies
